Our Company Values

Our Company Values

We have three guiding principles – they are our core business tenets for creating purpose and mission. They are not ambiguous corporate buzzwords that leave people perplexed, nor are they recycled from an outdated 1990 HR guide aimed at superficial comfort.

Our values are straight forward, memorable, and easy to understand.

As you read on it is important to recognise that these principles are our doctrine, steering our company’s decision-making processes. These three principles have a hierarchy, meaning the first takes priority over the second. In case of a clash between values, we default to the value with the higher rank.

Here are our values:

#1. Protect the House

Our priority is to take care of our employees first. Indeed, in contrast to the “client first” mentality that is prevalent in business, our foremost priority is our team, not our clients. The best analogy of this is the guidance given by airlines: “Ensure your own oxygen mask is secured before helping others.” This simple directive underscores that if you neglect your own needs while attending to everyone else, you will pass out – when this happens, how helpful can you be?

We demonstrate our commitment to Protecting the House in various ways, all paths start with empathy. Does someone needs help? Spare a minute to support them. Does someone need to attend their child’s school function? Offer to step in – after all, you might find yourself in the same situation one day. Is someone underperforming? Pause to ask questions and understand, rather than rushing to judgement. We all wage personal battles that significantly affect our day yet remain private to us. This behaviour has an unseen by-product. When you raise your hand to ask for help, it can reveal a level of vulnerability that may feel uncomfortable. But when it’s met with a warm response and support, it fosters trust. Trust is the cornerstone for strong teams and strong cultures.

We are all human. Business is human. Be respectful. Don’t be obnoxious, don’t be an a-hole.

If we have healthy employees, healthy working environments, healthy families, will we do a better or worse job taking care of our clients? We will do a better job. Which leads to our second value.

#2. Help our Clients Win

It’s as simple as this. Our clients partner with us because of our exceptional reputation. They engage us to realise a particular business goal and help their organisation succeed. Our focus is to yield positive results. We make a commitment and a promise to deliver these results in the most effective way we possibly can.

In essence, this means that we operate with a sense of urgency within our organisation to complete tasks and deliverables on schedule and with the highest possible degree of skill. The best comparison would be that of a vehicle product line. A commitment is made to the client that they will receive the vehicle they have paid for by a certain date. Consequently, it is critical that everyone in the supply chain works with a sense of urgency and fulfills their responsibilities. If this doesn’t happen, it can lead to delays, use of inferior parts, and ultimately, the client suffers.

What about going above and beyond, like all the large companies profess to do? Do we go above and beyond? Certainly, we spare no effort to do so. However, at some point, the “above and beyond” becomes the new normal, and you technically can’t deliver “above and beyond” anymore. People who are perpetually seeking those who can outperform might find themselves feeling disillusioned, as no one can fulfill their lofty expectations. The reality is, the benchmark of achievement is a constantly shifting entity.

If you are an existing or potential client reading this, please understand that we aspire for a genuine partnership. We’re prepared to join forces with you and collectively ensure the success of your cyber security program. Consider this about standing back-to-back – if one person dodges, the other takes a hit to the back of the head. No one desires that outcome.

This takes us to our third and final value.

#3. Always Improve

Our team has been doing cyber security for a long time. The sum of our collective experience is impressively vast. With the threat landscape evolving rapidly and novel cyber security technologies emerging almost every day, we don’t expect our staff to know everything. However, we ask them to be intellectually curious and make a conscience effort to learn and adapt to the requirements of today’s dynamic threat landscape.

Education, improvement, development – it’s not a destination, but rather a continual journey. It’s a never ending marathon. If you’re hoping for a tangible finishing point, you will be disappointed. Instead, we dedicate ourselves to the ongoing process of improvement – we understand that the results are much more fulfilling.

These are our values. In order of priority. If confronted with the dilemma of either protecting our team or helping our clients excel, we’ll first care for our team members, allowing the entire team to rally and cater to our client. If the choice between assisting clients to win or persistently improving, we’ll choose to help clients win first, as there’s always an opportunity to continually improve.

Are these genuine values? Undeniable, yes. Sceptical about our claim? your disbelief doesn’t concern us. However, we’ll gladly put you in touch with any of our team members – without a doubt, they’ll affirm the application of these values in our every operation.
